This is the Duchamp Source Finder - an astrophysics program to detect stars from Radio telescope signals. This software needs to process vast amounts of data so precision and performance are critically important.
The Proteus-S code currently runs at least 80% native speed and produces bit-for-bit identical results. This software is used as the processing code for theSkyNet and to date has processed over 1 billion data "cubes" using donated CPU time on thousands of computers around the world.
The top 'console' is the recorded output from the natively compiled Duchamp software (GCC on 32 Linux), while the bottom one is the live output Proteus running this "native" software inside a Java applet.
A Java Plugin is required to show this demostration.
